 Yaaba Funk are a 10-piece Hi-Life/Afro-Funk explosion, a product of Brixton and influenced by 1970s Ghanaian hi-life, the funk of James Brown and UK sounds like Roots Manuva and The Specials. Their floor-filling extravaganza combines the tightest rhythm section this side of Accra, fat analogue basslines, blazing horns, sparkling African and gritty rock guitars. Their first single is a very limited edition double-AA-side 10" vinyl release consisting of the hi-life sound of the late Alhaji K Frimpong classic "Hwe Hwe Mu Na Yi Wo Mpena" and the self-penned live favourite "Nyash! E Go Bite U". |
